Tranfield to retire
from World Tour
Jenny
Tranfield, the current world number eleven, has announced her
retirement from the WISPA world tour, effective from after next
month's British Open.
After 10 years of professional squash the 30-year-old from Milton
Keynes will pursue a career in sport psychology.
Tranfield, the 1998 World University Champion, achieved 11
WISPA tour titles, numerous international caps, a top 8 world
ranking as well as receiving a First Class honours degree
and Ph.D from Loughborough University.
In addition, she has made a significant contribution to the women’s
game through her membership of the WISPA board.

Yorkshire-born Tranfield has enjoyed an
illustrious squash career which includes British National Junior
titles at U14 and U16, British Junior Open titles at U16 and
U19, and the World Universities title in her second
appearance in the final. She also boasts a formidable WISPA record,
having only lost in four of her 15 final appearances since her first
in March 1997.
Her last and biggest WISPA success was in the Las Vegas Bright
Lights Open last May, and she reached the semi-final of the
National Championships in February.
