Hong Kong Junior Open 2009

Record entry for 2009

The Hong Kong Junior Squash Open, which was firstly organized in 1968, is one of the most popular junior events on the squash calendar and always attracted lots of junior players from all over the world to come to Hong Kong to experience a competitive but enjoyable tournament.

This year the tournament, which is subvented by Leisure & Cultural Services Department and sponsored by HEAD and Perrier, has received a new record entry of 500 junior participants from seven short-haul and long-haul countries including Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, India and the host – Hong Kong China.

These 500 juniors will compete for the 10 division titles, which will be held between 12th to 16th August 2009 in Hong Kong.

All preliminary rounds, quarters and semis will be placed at Cornwall St. Park Squash Centre, Kowloon Tong on 12th to 15th August 2009. To strengthen the atmosphere, Hong Kong Squash – the organizer has decided to stage the finals (16th August) at the glass centre court of Hong Kong Squash Centre, where every year the Hong Kong Open the world's top players are to be seen playing.

Local favourite and current Asian Junior Bronze Medalist Liu Tsz-ling is expected to do well in the Girls' U19 event, along with with her teammates who finished runners-up in the World Junior Teams in Chennai, top seed Tong Tsz-wing and 3/4 seed Carmen Lee Ka-man.
