10-Jun:
Youth over Experience
in Naracoorte finals
Des Panizza reports
Both
finals went to five games, and both youthful second seeds
overcame their more experienced top-seeded opponents in the
finals in Naracoorte..
Korean Dong Woo Kim's court speed, consistency and control were
just enough to beat the higher ranked Australian Luke Margan.
The women's match was an epic, hard-hitting affair but Peta
Hughes saved her best three drops for the business end of the
match to snatch victory over Diane Desira.

09-Jun:
Margan denies all-Korean final
Des Panizza reports
A good men's final is in prospect at the Naracoorte Open, with
both winners looking strong in their semis despite dropping
games. Korea's Dong Woo Kim beat surprise semi-finalist
Chris Chapman in four games, while top seed Luke Margan
foiled an all-Korean final with a five-game win over Joong Won
Huang.
International referee Damien Green is now able to referee
the final after playing creditably to reach the quarter-finals!
In the women's semis Peta Hughes and Lisa Camilleri
played out a very even contest of hard hitting tight squash.
Diane Desira eased past Kirsry Groves, but since she is
playing her first tournament for some time she might find the
final a real challenge ...

Youth over Experience
It was a case of youth over experience in the women's first
round in South Australia, as the experienced players prevailed
in every case. Bonny Wu's speed surprised Diane Desira for one
game before the top seed asserted her authority.
The men's first round winners go on to face the four seeds in
Saturday's quarter-finals.
