First
time I saw the boy, he was 16, and already pretty gifted...
His father, Trevor Grant, initially taught him to play. They were
both lefthanded, that must have been a great help...
"When he grew up, I knew I had to let go", his father told me one
day, "I had to let him work with other coaches...."
I saw Adrian growing up, I saw him lose, I saw him win, I saw him
happy as possible, I saw him sad and desperate. For a few months, he
was like lost, between injuries, bad losses and personal worries.
And then the car crash a few months ago. When he saw what was left
of the car, when he realised he could have died, just like that, he
heard a loud wake up call. A very loud one....
Since, his performances have gone up. And he is back on track.
Thank God.
So, today, Adrian, I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday.
Here's looking at you, kid....
