22-Sep-06:
Matthew on a roll
New British Open Champion Nick Matthew beat Peter Nicol 3/1 in an
exhibition match to round off the World Airline Squash Tournament at
Lambs, London.
The crowd of 100+ people really enjoyed the old master battle with the
man in form. Earlier on the doubles was the Retired Pros (Peter Nicol
& Phil Barker) v the Current Pros (Nick Matthew & Ben Garner) with the
latter winning a match that was great fun, and the crowd were dazzled
by the array of shots and the speed of the players' reflexes.

LAMBS FOR 2006
The world airline tournament will take place at
Lambs in London in
September.
British Airways are the host airline, and First Officer Pete
Mahon and Purser Mike Hancock, are the tournament
organisers.
Pete is a former county player and Mike is a coach, you may well know
from the Manchester event team, they both carry a great enthusiasm for
the game.
This is a completely amateur event bringing together players from the
world's airlines, who share the same enthusiasm for the game.
Through their connections in the game, both Mike and Pete are
confident that a very strong exhibition match will take place on the
final evening, and when details are finalised, may well be made
available to the public. |
