Ghosal Takes Chennai Open Title

Indian favourite Saurav Ghosal was in devastating form in the final of the ICL Chennai Open in Chennai where he crushed his second-seeded opponent Wai Hang Wong in just 21 minutes to keep the title in domestic hands for the third year in a row.

The 20-year-old from Chennai beat Hong Kong's Wong, thus making up for the disappointment of a runners-up finish in the event three years ago, and marking the Indian National champion's second PSA title success - his first being at the Otters Open in Mumbai last September.

14-Jun, Quarters:
Saurav makes Chennai semis

The quarter finals of the 5th ICL Chennai Open saw a good beginning for the home fans today at the ICL Squash Academy. Indian number one Saurav Ghosal sailed smoothly as expected without any hitches and won the 35 minutes match against Indian counterpart Naresh Kumar in four games.

However there was disappointment when Parth Sharma, in spite of his lead in the first, could not sustain the performance against Dick Lau who is currently ranked 117 in the world. The last prospect for India was Gaurav Nandrajog whose racquets skills displayed ample professionalism but failed to make an impact against second seed Wai Hang Wong of Hong Kong. Like Parth, Gaurav took the first game but Wai Hong Wong took over soon by winning the next three.

Apart from these, the quarter finals also saw Egyptian player Mohammed El Shorbagy taking out Neil Hitchens of England to qualify for Friday's semi finals.
