09-Nov, Final:
Double fun in Canada
for Krajcsak

Shauna Flath reports

Wow what a match, and what a player Mark Krajcsak is ... today nothing was going to go wrong for him ... lightning speed, quickness and finesse ... what a champion.

Mark has been here before to the CCO but he has definitely stepped up the level of his play. Jesse battled hard but couldn't finish rallies as when he got the opening he took it but Mark had an answer for everything.

He joins fellow past champions Borja Golan, Peter Barker and Shahier Razik after our fourth year for this event, and adds this title to the Saskatoon Boast he won last weekend.

08-Nov, Semis:
Engelbrecht edges out top seed
Shauna Flath reports

Only one of the semi-finals was a tight match, between Jesse Engelbrecht and Aaron Frankcomb. But what a match - back and forth, closely contested all the way with Jesse finally coming out on top in the end..

On the other side Dylan Bennett was flat and Mark Krajcsak was equally sharp, a lop sided match with Mark fresh for the final cruising to a 3-0 victory.

07-Nov, Quarters:
Canadians bow out
Shauna Flath reports

Canadians were in tough matchups and unfortunately did not prevail tonight. Robin Clarke came the closest, just narrowly missed taking out Mark Krajcsak going down 3-2. The match of the night was Dylan Bennett and Ryan Cuskelly with Dylan coming out on top in the end. Both Jesse and Aaron played fantastic and it will be a toss up again tomorrow. Top four seeds are through to the semis, and it's still a toss up on who is going to take the title this year.

06-Nov, Round One:
Seeds safely through in Jericho

Great squash all day as the top two seeds Aaron Frankcomb and Mark Krajcsak were strong and had no trouble in their matches winning easily 3/0.

Then of course we had very well known Canadians next in the group with Winston Cabell being a bit impatient and missing his crowd to go down 3/1 against Nafzahizam Adnan, and a pleasure to see back on the court Matt Guiffre who cruised to a 3/0 victory.

The match of the night was Dylan Bennett defeating local and Jericho's own world #1 ranked doubles player and ex-National team player Viktor Berg, who had a fantastic effort but just fell short in the end.

Overall the quarters are going to be great, the crowd is looking forward as the matches continue to improve and the play is exceptional. It is a toss up for who will come out on top in the end!

05-Nov, Qualifying Finals:
Cabell comeback lights up Jericho

Shauna Flath reports

So it finally has happened! A great night of squash entertaining to the max...well really only one match was entertaining...the rest were all straight forward with the seeded players winning except for Kristian Frost Olesen who got his brain crunched by our own club's local verteran Winston Cabell nickname the "King"...it was epic...

Krisitan dominated right from the start racing out to a 9-0 lead with Winny coming back but falling short 11-8. Second game Olesen wins 11-0 and then comes the fun. Winston wins the third 11-5; the fourth 11-3 and the fifth 15-13 as he changed his game and got inside the young players head and came out on top ... it was magic to hear the roars of the crowd, and Winston himself when he won was brilliant.

Never ever count out the experienced talented player that Winston is.
