04-Nov, Final:
Razik rises
to
CDL title
Despite
both being engaged in marathon semi-finals, Shahier Razik and
Miguel Angel Rodriguez raised themselves to provide the
enthusiastic crowd at Club Sportif in Montreal to a thrilling
107-minute final, with Canadian Razik prevailing 12/10 in the fourth
to claim his 16th career title.
"We’ve been fortunate," said tournament organiser Jacob Guldbaeck.
"Not a single bad match (which in a way is a tribute to the young
men playing) and several really great ones. I’ve been to Birmingham,
I’ve been to Canary Wharf and seen more squash than I can remember,
and even if we are a small fairly insignificant tournament in the
calendar I am thankful for the turnout and grateful for my luck."
03-Nov,
Semis:
Marathon semis in Montreal
Top seed Shahier Razik won through to the final with one of
his customary marathon performances, beating Rafael Alarcon in 97
minutes. That was bettered by Miguel Angel Rodriguez, who
needed 132 minutes to beat second seed Daryl Selby in four games ...
02-Nov,
Quarters:
Top four seeds
through
to semis
The
top four seeds claimed their anticipated places in the semi-finals
of the Club Sportif Cote de Liesse Open - but Canadian
favourite Shahier Razik and Brazil's fourth seed Rafael
Alarcon were both tested for more than hour in their
quarter-final matches in Montreal.
Razik battled for 79 minutes before overcoming fifth-seeded
compatriot Shawn Delierre. The 29-year-old
from Toronto will now meet Alarcon - who needed 89 minutes to see
off Canadian David Phillips.
The
other quarter-finals were resolved in straight games - third seed
Miguel Angel Rodriguez prevailing in an all-Colombian encounter
with Bernardo Samper.
On
the eve of his 25th birthday, Englishman
Daryl Selby, the No2 seed, triumphed in 39 minutes over
Canada's sixth seed Matthew Giuffre.

02-Nov,
Round One:
Samper Survives
Club Sportif Opener
Seventh seed Bernardo Samper was severely tested by Indian qualifier
Gaurav Nandrajog in the first round of the Club Sportif Cote de
Liesse Open before claiming his anticipated place in the last eight
in Quebec.
The 25-year-old from Colombia, who celebrated a career-high world
No57 ranking this month, came back from a game down - then survived
a lengthy final tie-break game before beating the 22-year-old from
New Delhi in 60 minutes. Samper now faces fellow Colombian Miguel
Angel Rodriguez in the quarter-finals after the third seed beat
Scottish qualifier Alan Clyne.
Home interest in the semi-finals is guaranteed after top seed
Shahier Razik and fifth seed Shawn Delierre set up an all-Canadian
quarter-final. Razik beat compatriot Robin Clarke, while Delierre
despatched Australian Ryan Cuskelly.
