22-25 Mar, Creteil, France, $8k

25-Mar-07, Final:

[1] Manuela Manetta (Ita) bt [3] Aisling Blake (Irl)
     9/3, 9/5, 4/9, 9/7 (66m)

Manetta Crowned Creteil Queen

Italy's Manuela Manetta clinched her second WISPA title this year when she won the Creteil Open - but the top seed was fully tested by Ireland's No3 seed Aisling Blake
,

The 23-year-old from Parma was taken to four games in the semi-finals by South Africa's No4 seed Tenille Swartz in a tough battle which lasted 53 minutes.

An inspired performance by Blake in the other semi-final saw the 25-year-old from Sligo upset India's No2 seed Joshna Chinappa.

It took 66 minutes to resolve the final - Manetta beating Blake 9-3, 9-5, 4-9, 9-7 to claim the second WISPA title of her career. It was a victory which will surely see Manetta make her top 30 debut before long - consolidating her status as Italy's highest-ranked woman of all-time

Ireland's Aisling Blake claimed an unexpected place in the final of the Creteil Open after upsetting India's No2 seed Joshna Chinappa in the semi-finals at Centre Marie Therese Eyquem in Creteil, France.

The 25-year-old third seed from Sligo, currently based in Amsterdam, recovered from a game down to beat 20-year-old Chinappa, from Chennai in 42 minutes to reach the second Tour final of her career.

Blake will face Manuela Manetta, the top seed from Italy. The 23-year-old from Parma also had to fight back from a game behind to beat South Africa's No4 seed Tenille Swartz in a tough battle which lasted 53 minutes.

Swartz, the 19-year-old from Parys who was voted the WISPA Young Player of the Year in the World Squash Awards in December, reached the semi-finals after despatching local star Camille Serme - the 17-year-old European Junior Champion from Creteil - in the quarter-finals.

Vicky & Kylie Crash Into Creteil Quarters

Qualifiers Vicky Hynes and Kylie Lindsay crashed into the quarter-finals of the Creteil Open after impressive upsets over seeded opponents in the inaugural  event at Centre Marie Therese Eyquem in Creteil, France.

Lindsay came through her first opening round Tour match for almost three years when she defeated England's sixth seed Kirsty McPhee in 46 minutes. The 23-year-old from Matamata now meets top-seeded Italian Manuela Manetta for a place in the last four.

Vicky Hynes, playing in her first overseas WISPA event for more than two years after taking time off to have her first child, despatched the Creteil club-based No7 seed Soraya Renai in just 25 minutes.

The 25-year-old from Birmingham - who won her only WISPA Tour title in France, at the Carcassonne City Open in May 2001 - will now face Ireland's No3 seed Aisling Blake.
