27-Oct-08:
BACK ONLINE…
As we told you a few days ago, we have been inundated with messages
of support, but also with some extremely interesting business
propositions.
One in particular attracted our attention, from Mick Todd,
Pontefract Squash Club owner and James Willstrop’s manager among
other things, who made us a 'proposition we couldn’t refuse'.
“You two just keep on doing what you are doing best, as in letting
the world know about squash, and you let me handle the rest. How
does that sound?”
It sounded good, but still, did we really want to get back in there,
did we really want to get back into the hard work, the politics, the
jealousies, the day to day pressure, the trouble of it all? It took
Steve and I a few days, and a lot of discussions to realise what we
did want, but more precisely, what we didn’t want.
There followed a very long meeting last week that spread over seven
hours where the three of us put all our hopes, wills, propositions
and ideas on the table, and 23 cups of tea later, we shook hands.
The deal was done.

NOW WHAT?
Steve and I cruelly missed somebody to handle the business side of
SquashSite, its promotion and contracts. So from now on, everyone
interested in helping us, or investing in our site(s) should discuss
with Mick, and hopefully, the momentum created by our closure should
lead to a new start for SquashSite.
Not to mention that Mick has a few tricks up his sleeves that we
truly believe will take us to new levels. The site will, over the
next months, get bigger, stronger, more structured, and in time,
should grow to brand new territories.
HOW?
We know that many of you wanted us to set up a “subscription based”
structure, but none of us want to go down this road, and we do not
think that such a restrictive angle would serve the whole Squash
Community.
So, first of all, in a few weeks, you’ll be able to help us, free of
charge, by simply letting us have your name, email, and your
authorisation to pass them on to our future squash related sponsors.
We’ll also propose to our 'members' some exclusive bonuses and
offers, competitions, newsletters, etc. So, just keep on reading us,
and spreading the good word, that’s all we ask of you!

COUNTDOWN
But at the end of the day, what took the camel back was the
Olympic Bid. How could Steve and I build a superb communication
tool for the past five years, and just drop the ball a few months
before the IOC takes its decision about the inclusion of Squash into
the Olympics?
So our new Business Director Mister Big Mick Todd,
Complete Legend Steve Cubbins, Secret Agent
David Barry our photographer, and Mad Frog Framboise
Gommendy are hoping that we’ll be able to serve you squash fans
all over the world, the squash Community and the Squash Olympic Bid
to reach our common goal, making our stunning sport an Olympic one.
And one last time, thanks to you all for your astonishing reaction
and support.

Qatar Classic, Doha
"I'm
looking forward to working with the talented & successful SquashSite
team, raising the bar & taking the site to new dimensions.
"Our aims include developing the business potential to increase and
improve marketing and advertising opportunities, and maximizing all
outlets to improve profitability, thus ensuring, with the support of
new and established members, the future growth and security of the
site."

QATAR
As
you know, the Qatar Classic,
one of the World's top tournaments, has now started, and although
the QSF has gone to great lengths to have the SquashSite team over
there, we were not able to cover the event this time, for which we
can only apologise.

So, this note is destined more particularly to the players, whose
support this past week has been invaluable.
Boys and Girls, we are
counting on you to help us cover the event, by sending us your after
match quotes, impressions, quick reports and results.
Qatar has always been a great supporter of Squash in general, and
SquashSite in particular, and we would be extremely grateful if you
all could give us a hand this week.
