Dutch Junior Open

En Français

Sun 15th, Finals:
A good day for Egypt in Amsterdam

Egyptians claimed four of the eight titles at the Frans Otten Stadion in Amsterdam as the Dutch Junior Open continued the summer European Junior circuit. It was a day of upsets, with six lower-seeded players triumphing in the finals.

European junior champion Nicolas Mueller repeated his success last week in Cologne, breezing through the final. In the women's U19 event Malaysia's Wee Wern Low gained a measure of revenge for losing her Pioneer title last week as she collected the Dutch title, deposing defending champion Camille Serme in the semis.

Strangely the finals were bunched together late in the day (three each at 14.00 and 14.30) with some played early due to walkovers in the morning playoff matches. Perversely the last match on, the U17 girls final, started 15 minutes late, adding to the frustration of the French delegation who had asked in vain for it to be pulled forward due to flight commitments. At 2/1 down Emilie Lamilango was forced to concede as Millie Tomlinson collected England's sole title.
