Nicol goes for four Rackets

Peter Nicol at the English Racketlon Open - 15-17Aug
Gary Tovey reports

The sport of Racketlon goes from strength to strength as the UK & World tours collide at the English Racketlon Open, taking place at Redbridge Sport & Leisure in August.

Friday 15th August see the Doubles World Championships take centre stage, with the singles events taking place on Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th August.

For those not familiar with Racketlon, Squash makes up one of the four disciplines that players compete in, with Table Tennis, Badminton & Tennis making up the traditional quartet of racket sports. Each match consists of a game/set in each discipline, & adopts point-a-rally, typically to 21. The winner of a match is the player with the highest accumulation of points.

The sport of Racketlon has attracted interest from many notable players from the world of each individual sport & the latest 'convert' is Peter Nicol, who will be at the event on the Saturday. Nicol, one of the legends of the sport, will be competing in an exhibition match with an Elite International Racketlon player.

Nicol now has turned his focus to promoting the game of Squash, providing sponsorship, support and coaching through his business interests & will be on hand throughout the Saturday. Several England Squash referees will also be present at the three-day event.

For those interested in trying out Racketlon, look no further than this event, as there are entry categories for all standards from Elite, Advanced & Amateur to Beginner, & all ages from under 16's to Over 65's.
