Kippax wins maiden
title in Enschede
Tommy Berden reports

Top seed Sarah Kippax from England proved too strong for second seed Line Hansen of Denmark in three close games in the final of the inaugural Pepsi Enschede Open, the first ever WISPA event in Eastern Holland..

The two ladies were evenly matched throughout, but at the end of each game it was the the 23-year old Kippax who kept her nerve better.

With a forehand drop shot winner, after 47 minutes of high quality squash, Kippax clinched the first WISPA title of her career.

08-Oct-06:
End of the line
for Dutch girls
Tommy Berden reports

The semi finals of the Pepsi Enschede Open 2006 ended disappointingly for the two Dutch girls. Fifth seeded Margriet Huisman went down in four games against Line Hansen from Denmark, number two on the seeding list. After a quick loss of the first game, Huisman came back strong to take the second game. However in the third and fourth game the power and consistency of the number 43 of the world proved too much for Huisman.

In the second semi final Dagmar Vermeulen didn’t manage to put enough pressure on Sarah Kippax from England. The 30 year old Dutch player tried everything she could, but was totally outplayed by top seed Kippax: 2-9, 1-9, 6-9 in 17 minutes.

07-Oct-06:
Two Dutch in Pepsi Semis ...
Tommy Berden reports

The quarter finals of the Pepsi Enschede Open 2006 went very well for the Dutch players.

Margriet Huisman caused a minor surprise by upstaging fourth seeded Charlie de Rijcke in four games. The fifth seed from Arnhem allowed her opponent to come back from 8-4 down in the fourth game to 8-8, but then refocused to close out the match 9-6, 9-5, 3-9, 10-8.

Huisman will now face Line Hansen from Denmark, the number two seed, who overcame Susannah King from England in three games.

Dagmar Vermeulen also moved into the semi finals with a 3-1 win over compatriot Milja Dorenbos. Vermeulen struggled with her opponent in the second game, but in the end proved too strong for her Dutch team mate: 9-3, 3-9, 9-5, 9-1.

In tomorrows semi final Vermeulen will take on top seed Sarah Kippax, who beat South African qualifier Tenille Swartz in a beautiful match.
