Serme Adds European Title
France's
top seed Camille Serme added the European U19 title to her British U17
crown with a comprehensive victory over England's second seed Rachel
Willmott in the girls final in Langnau.
Dominating
the T from the start, Serme stormed into a 4/0 lead in the first game,
and although Willmott recovered to 3/4, Serme went on to take the next
22 points to lead 8/0 in the third.
Although she
managed to pull two points back there was to be no repeat of
yesterday's comeback heroics for Willmott as Serme went on to claim
the title on her sixth match-ball.
Rosner also won in straight games, taking early leads in all three
games against England's 3/4 seed Joel Hinds, had beaten hinds Hinds
twice before in European Junior Team competitions since 2002 – and
only last month defeated the Derbyshire 18-year-old in the English
Premier League.
The victories mark the the first German to win the men's title and the
first French player to triumph in the women's event.

Hello
Everybody, Camille here.
Thank you very much for your messages, you are always there and that's
a real pleasure for me.
My final was not as hard as I expected it but that does not take
anything away from the joy which I feel at this moment.
Now I am in a hurry to begin the teams to show what France can do. We
are very motivated and we will do everything to go as far as possible!
Regards and thanks again !

Willmott back from the
Brink
The top two seeds will contest the Girls final in the European U19
Championships in Langnau, after contrasting semi-finals.
France's
Camille Serme justified her top billing with a
straight-games win over the Czech Republic's Lucia Fialova, the
British Open U17 Champion surviving a tight first game before going on
to win with increasing confidence.
England's Rachel Willmott "just climbed Mount Everest", said
coach Mike Harris, immediately after the English National
Champion recovered from two games and match-ball down against
Germany's Pamela Hathaway.
England will also be represented in the Boys final, after
Joel
Hinds beat Chris Tasker-Grindley in straight games. Hinds will
meet top seed Simon
Rösner after the German crushed the
Netherlands' Tom Hoevenaars for the loss of just three points.

"I'm
very happy to be in the final of the European championship for
the the first time ever.
"My semi was far from easy, I didn't play well tactically, but
still, succeeded to impose myself both mentally and physically
"Now I'm going to rest, I would like to do a good match
tomorrow, and that's what I'm going to prepare myself for.
"Now, the treat... A massage!!!!!!!
Speak with you tomorrow ..."
 |
|
"That
was a hard battle.
"When I was match-ball down in the third I still had belief that
I could win, as I'd recovered from that situation before.
"There was a lot of English support in the crowd, which helped a
lot too.
"Once I got one game it gave me a lot of confidence, and I knew
I could win from there.
"For the final, I haven't played Camille recently. I lost the
last time we played but I'm confident I can win, there will be
more pressure on her as the top seed."
