This weekend sixteen players took part
in the inaugural Eventis Coaching Camp at Dulwich Sports Club
(www.dulwichsquash.co.uk) in south London.
Joining forces with top coach Peter Genever, the Eventis team
have added yet another arm to their growing portfolio of products.
The sixteen players were drawn from Dulwich Squash Club and the
surrounding area and were put through their paces from Friday
through Sunday. Areas covered included movement, weight of shot,
technique and shot selection, with some fitness thrown in for good
measure!

Genever is rapidly becoming known as one of the country’s top
coaches, working with the full range of standards from Malaysia’s
World no. 12 Azlan Iskandar to players new to the sport. He was
assisted over the weekend by ex-professional & Eventis director
Tim Garner and one of Genever’s world ranked pupils Robbie
Temple. They also played a demonstration match on the Saturday,
with Genever interceding at relevant moments to highlight some of
the areas that should be particularly observed.
"‘We
want to deliver some quality camps to players who are keen to
improve their game. Pete Genever is the ideal head coach for this as
he has an excellent eye for detail and truly enjoys helping players
develop their games at all levels."
"Dulwich was an obvious choice for the first camp as it is a squash
club whose membership is expanding, and whose members are
enthusiastic to get involved any activities that are available. The
club has a great history and is now one of the most pro-active in
the area, both in terms of promoting squash and looking at ways to
bring in people to play the sport."

Participants in the weekend had a
pleasant surprise on Sunday when former World no.1 Peter Nicol
arrived to watch the completion of the competition element. He spent
time chatting to the players, offering advice and re-enforcing many
of the points made by Genever over the course of the weekend. He
then presented a bottle of champagne to competition winner Duncan
Elliot.
