29-Nov,
Final: Galves doubles up
in Mexico
Top seed and defending champion Eric Galvez delighted the home fans
with a quickfire win over New Zealand's Callum O'Brien to retain
his Evolution Open title.
A capacity crowd was, as to expected, behind the home favourite from the
start. In the first game O'Brien was quickly behind 8-3 as Galvez imposed
his game, with trademark precise drives and drops. The Kiwi ralled,
recovering to 10-7 but couldn't prevent Galvez taking the lead.
The Mexican totally dominated the second game, as O'Brien had no answer to
the aggressive, speedy style of Galvez and failed to register a single
point.
From 3-3 in the third Galvez reimposed his domination to clinch the title
without dropping a game in his four matches. |

27-Nov,
Quarters: Galvez on track in Mexico
Top seed and defending champion Eric Galvez delighted the home fans
with a quickfire win over Greece's Fabian Kalaitzis to reach the
semi-finals. But the hoped-for all-Mexican semi-final was thwarted when
Aaron Frankcomb ended the run of lacal qualifier Jose Angel Becerril
in four games.
The other semi-final will be between second seed Callum O'Brien and
Hungary's Mark Crajszak, who recorded an upset win over France's
fourth seed Laurent Elriani.
26-Nov,
Round One: Becerril Beats Bennett In Evolution Upset
Two home players will contest the quarter-finals of the Evolution Open
in Mexico City after qualifier Jose Angel Becerril upset
third-seeded Dutchman Dylan Bennett 7-11 11-7 11-7 11-6 in the first
round of the PSA Tour event in Mexico.
Becerril joins fellow Mexican
Eric Galvez, the defending champion, in the last eight after
the top seed cruised to an 11-8 11-1 11-8 first round win over Austrian
qualifier Andreas Fuchs.
Galvez will take on unseeded Greek No1
Fabian Kalaitzis, who was
the recipient of a walkover courtesy of the ill English sixth seed Jago
Nardelli, whilst Becerril meets Australia's fifth seed Aaron
Frankcomb.
