05-Mar, Semis:
Yasir butts into Fajr final

Pakistan's Yasir Butt marched into the final of the 12th Fajr International in Iran with a 3/1 defeat of top seed Omar Abdel Aziz. Yasir will meet another Egyptian in the final after second seed Amr Swelim beat South African Steve Coppinger in four games.

"First game I was very lazy. In the second I started to play my game and thankfully it worked.

"I had good back up that Zarak Jahan Khan was there, and also Mr Yavar Islam helped me a lot too."

"I started well in the first, but all credit to him, he played well and made some good volley drops.

"The fourth was so close, then he was strong and played lot of risky shots."

All game was too close, and it was too fast. He is tall and played lot of volleys, I tried hard to get the ball past him.

"I'm very happy to win this game."

"I had him behind me a lot, I was playing a lot of volleys but I wasn’t confident in the front.

"I could done better ... some other time ..."

04-Mar, Quarters:
Top seeds make Fajr semis

The top four seeds will contest the semi-finals of the 12th Fajr International on Iran's Kish Island. The President of the Kish Squash Association, Mr Gholami, is clearly pleased with the event so far:

"We will organise more PSA tournaments in the future, and we would like to promote squash more in Iran and especially in Kish. These events promote our players at the International level and improves their games."

"I started with a basic game, but I wasn't in it at the start of the second. I managed to come back from 7/4 down to win that one and in the third I tried to slow it down, and it worked! Good luck to my friend Amr Swelim in his match ..."

"Not good. I mad a lot of mistakes when I was under pressure. He played with a lot of consistency and his pace was just too fast at times.

"It's been a good tournament, as it was last year ..."

"I was more confident than him today, I played my shots and it was a fairly comfortable match for me.

"He was good. The pace was high and he attacked well. It just wasn't my day and I wish him luck in the ret of the tournament ..."

"I was so tired. My heart was saying that I could win but my body didn't agree. I tried to come back in the third, but it was a bad day ..."

"At the start I was a bit slow, but suddenly his motivation dropped - I sped up and that seemed to work ..."

03-Mar, Round One:
Snell sneaks into Fajr quarters

Just one upset in the first round of the Fajr International in Iran's Kish Island, as young Englishman James Snell downed the fifth-seeded Greek champion Fabian Kalaitzis in straight games. Snell now faces second seed Amr Swelim for a place in the semis.

Top seed Omar Abdel Aziz came through safely enough against local qualifier Hossein Sanaee, and is expected to meet Swelim in an all-Egyptian final on Thursday ...

"I played pretty well, I didn’t make many mistakes, but he wants to play a short game and he made mistakes on a big points."

"It was a good fight. He played well, I lost my concentration at times but also he played well. I'm happy to be here for a second time."

"He was too good. He is in top 50, I didn’t expect more than this, because now I'm 241. He was a experienced  player, maybe some other time…

"I played well. I tried to use the side walls, and played good length and straight kills,  and I didn’t make any mistakes.

"My next match is with Amr Swelim, it could be good challenge ...

"I took it easy, I'm just back from asian seniors, I was too fit. First game was too close, I was down in the fourth and fifth, but I managed to come back…"

"He start strongly in the first and played hard shots and good length, but I knew his game. I got back into the match and he got tired in second.

"Now the weather is too hot…"
