The Greenwich Open title remained in English hands as Jenny Duncalf, having dethroned two-time champion Linda Elriani in the semi-finals, went on to beat compatriot Alison Waters in straight games at the Greenwich Country Club

The victory is Duncalf's second consecutive tour title following her victory in the Prince Canary Islands Open in December.

In the all-English semi-finals at the Greenwich Country Club, Jenny Duncalf triumphed in five games over Linda Elriani to deny Elriani her third successive Greenwich title.

In the final Duncalf meets Alison Waters, who beat Laura Lengthorn in four games.

We’ve had an unbelievable time with power loss due to two of the worst rain and wind storms that Connecticut has had in 100 years.

Over 36,000 people in Fairfield County were affected with these wind storms, but every cloud has a silver lining in that we were able to showcase an amazing new facility at the Greenwich Country Club which recently renovated their entire facility sparing no expense or attention to detail.

The crowds have been amazing at this festival of squash showcasing not only the top ladies players in the world but also the top doubles men’s tour as well as some of the best American singles players.

In the quarter-finals England's Linda Elriani and Jenny Duncalf reached their expected semi-final, but there were two upsets in the bottom half as Alison Waters defeated second seed Natalie Grainger, and Laura Lengthorn had a walkover against Tania Bailey after the fourth seed was up 8-2 in the second and had to default as she left the court and vomited ...

Elriani aims for

Linda Elriani heads a strong English challenge for the 2006 Greenwich Open, as the world number six aims to claim a third successive title at the Field Club in Connecticut.

Elriani faces English opposition in the form of Tania Bailey, Jenny Duncalf and Alison Waters, and is seeded to meet the USA's Natalie Grainger, returning to action after missing tournaments end of 2005, in the final.
