01-Jun, Final:
Marche deserving winner of Hemubo Trophy

Gregoire Marche clinched the Hemubo Squash Trophy 2008 with an impressive display against Finnish qualifier Henrik Mustonen in today’s final.

The 18-year old French player only took 28 minutes to claim his second PSA tour title.

The European Junior Champion stamped his authority on the match from the word go and never looked in danger against the tired looking Mustonen, who had to play his sixth match in less than 72 hours: 11-8, 11-4, 11-6.

Marche will now focus his attention to the World Junior Championships, which will take place in July in Switzerland.

18-year old Gregoire Marche (France) and 17-year old Henrik Mustonen (Finland) will challenge for the Hemubo Squash Trophy 2008 title later today (3.30pm) after both juniors scored upset wins over more experienced opponents.

The French player took out the event’s top seed Bradley Hindle, while the young Fin proved a bit stronger then Dutch ace Rene Mijs.

Marche dropped the opening game in his semi final match against the 27-year old Hindle, but regained control from the outset of the second game.

The European Junior Champion never looked in doubt as he ran out a comfortable 5-11, 11-3, 11-2, 11-4 winner after 58 minutes.

His opponent in today’s final spent a couple of minutes less time on court, but had to fight off a stern comeback from the third seeded 28-year old in the fourth game to clinch his place in the climax of the new PSA Satellite event: 11-7, 15-17, 11-5, 11-9.

31-May:
Youngsters break through in Almere

Youngsters Gregoire Marche and Henrik Mustonen reached the semi finals of the Hemubo Squash Trophy 2008 in the city of Almere in the Netherlands.

The 17-year old player from Finland survived two close opening games against Dutchman Bastiaan Meulenbelt before running away quickly with the third game. Mustonen will now take on another home player in tomorrow’s semi finals after the 28-year old Rene Mijs ended the run of English qualifier Neil Cordell in straight games.

The second semi final will feature 18-year old Marche from France and the event’s top seed Bradley Hindle. The European Junior champion had an easy passage to the last four after his opponent Karamatullah Khan retired injured before the match commenced.

Australian ace Bradley Hindle was made to work much harder to move into the final day. The Dutch based player won the first two games comfortably enough against Dutch international Piedro Schweertman, but had to come back from 10-7 down in the fourth to avoid a energy sapping fifth game.
