Annelize Naude wins Flowerbulb open 2006
It was over 5 years ago that a Dutch player won a WISPA title on home
soil, the last woman to do so was Vanessa Atkinson who won the Dutch
Open in 2001. Annelize, who was the top seed, was favourite to win the
Hillegom Flowerbulb Open 2006 title and she did not disappoint the very
enthusiastic crowd who showed up for this final. She beat Line Hansen
from Denmark, the world nr. 41.
Hansen put up a brave fight but it was not enough and Naude took the
title. Naude was very relieved after the final because she did not have
the best run lately in a few WISPA tournaments.
