She is with Isabelle Stoehr the most successful French junior
player. She is 19 today, and starting a new career from this moment
forward. All that she’s achieved as a junior will just be a lovely
memory from now on ...
Still, all those titles, all those cups and trophies, all those
experiences, emotions, tears, laughs, are making her who she will be
tomorrow.
And from Steve and I here at Squashsite, we just want to wish
Camille a happy new life on the squash circuit. Bonne chance ma
belle…
Meanwhile, have we found the secret of multi-talented Camille's
success ???
March 2008:
Every Picture tells a Story ... sometimes
Well, maybe not every picture, and some of them do need a
little explanation, since you don't often see both players so
pumped up at the same time ...
So,
here we are, semi-finals of the British Under 19 Championships in
Nottingham. Victoria Lust, the top seed and defending
champion (in yellow), is up against Sarah-Jane Perry, an
England team-mate.
It's been a contentious and sometimes physical match, lots of lets,
a few spills, plenty for the refs to do. At 4/2 down in the fifth,
well over an hour into the match, Victoria trips and goes flying
into the side wall.
25 minutes later after some treatment on her ankle, she's back on
court.
One point for Sarah-Jane to make it 5/2, but then Victoria comes
back with six unanswered points to reach match ball.
A
few minutes and a few spills later it's 9/8 to Sarah-Jane. She
serves. 'Lusty' hammers the ball straight down the line, so close to
the tin you can't tell, but there's definitely a funny noise to it.
Sarah-Jane is convinced she's won ... Lusty is sure she's saved her
title ... both react ... as above.
For the record, the refs called the ball good, but Sarah-Jane ("it
was down, 100% it was down!") went on to win 10-9 anyway, after
87+25 minutes .... phew!
Wedding Bells
for Wendy ...
Congratulations to
former Scottish International Wendy Maitland, now the owner
of Strings Squash & Fitness in Tewkesbury (and
ace marathon runner), on her marriage to Marcus Jones ...
We got married at Castle Fraser,
Aberdeenshire, Scotland. We had a traditional Scottish wedding
sharing it with family and friends. The dancing went on to the early
hours of the morning.
We had a fantastic day and the weather was great - not a drop of
rain anywhere. After the summer we have had at Strings in Tewkesbury
that was very nice.
We flew off to Cuba for our honeymoon and were back in time to start
the new squash season at the club.
Good Luck to everyone for the new season.
End of the line for
Lambs - will the last
person to leave please turn out the lights on court two ...
A few familiar
faces for Laura Lengthorn's
July 6th 2007 Wedding ... Congratulations !!!
