Joey Barrington bt Mohamed El Shorbagy
11/6, 7/11, 11/6, 11/6
Joey beats his training partner
Marwan El Shorbagy reports from Street…
This
was the second exhibition match in the Victoria Club, the first was
in February between Joey and Alister Walker, but this time the world
junior champion Mohamed El Shorbagy was to face his training partner
Joey - they both train everyday in Millfield School - in their
second exhibition match in two weeks.
Joey was playing very well today, but Mohamed was fasting during the
match because of Ramadan, so he was mentally tired but he was
playing well.
In the first game Joey led in all of the game, and Shorbagy was
making lots of mistakes but they played some good shots.
Second game Shorbagy got to the match and started to play more basic
and keeping the pressure on Joey, who made lots of unforced errors.
Third game was up and down, Joey had the lead 6/3 then Shorbagy came
back to 6/6, Shorbagy didn't like some decisions from the referee,
and then Joey took the game from 6/6 to 11/6.
Fourth was quite tough, they were playing very good squash, it was
very interesting to watch, they were playing long rallies, Joey had
a good tactics, and Shorbagy was talking a lot to the referee.
But it was Joey again to win the second exhibition match in Victoria
in his home town in Somerset.
Joey and Mohamed are preparing them self for the season especially,
the Saudi qualification which will be in Millfield School
And of course Kev Mattock the organizer of the match did a great
job.

Mohamed played very
well today and he was fasting during the match coz of Ramadan, I am
very happy to play very well today, maybe I was a bit tired from the
training but it was ok.
And I would like to thank Kev for the match.

We both played well, I
