Pokal Aerodrom Ljubljana-Kranz Open 2008
Kranz, Slovenia, 07-09 Mar, $6k

Final:
[1] Bradley Hindle
 bt Jethro Binns     11/8, 11/9, 11/9 (50m)

Hindle homes in on Kranz title

The finals evening started with an exhibition match played by Peter Creed and Lewys Hurst. playing American to 7, best of 3. The crowd were well entertained and peter came away the winner 7-6 in the 3rd.

The final was a tight match, although Bradley always had the edge, looking stronger at the back end of each game. Jethro dug deep but was feeling the effects of the 75 minute match in the morning with Martin Knight. Bradley played good solid squash at a high pace and ran out the deserved winner taking the winners cheque and his first PSA title. The tournament was very well organised and the players were well looked after, I'm sure will all be back next year.

"I am very pleased with the tournament, especially with the players who put 100% effort in, there were plenty of people watching and they wanted to see lots commitment which was what they got.

"It was good advert for for squash within Slovenia and all the sponsors were very satisfied with the way the tournament went, which means we build a template for the next season and with try and put a tournament on to a higher level next year."

07-Mar, Qualifying:
Locals fall in Slovenia

Jethro Binns reports from Kranz

There was no joy for the local entrants in the qualifying competition for the Kranz Open as two Welshmen, one Englishman and a Finn progressed into the main draw ...

Eddie Charlton played at a slow and steady pace and will be pleased to get off in three, his second and third games were tight but he looked to be in control and never really looked like losing.

It was a very edgy game from Lewys Hurst, he didn't at any stage look comfortable on court. Struggling with his short game he won through in three straight games and will be happy not to have been taken to a fourth after finding himself game ball down in the third. He will look to improve in the main draw.

Matias Tuomi encountered a very nervous local for the first game of his match, but as we entered the second game the rallies became more contested and Langus showed what he was capable of. Matias never really looked in trouble but this will be a learning experience for the local player who has only been playing for two years.

Peter Creed never really found himself in trouble during his match. He displayed his array of holds and flicks and having finished his
dissertation on Wednesday he will be happy to be back on court and in the main draw.

"I was tired today, it took a while to get used to the court, the floors are quite solid and an interesting shade of green. hopefully I will improve a little for tomorrow."

Eddie Charlton

"With such a hard floor I was struggling with my movement.

"Hopefully this will get better for the main draw and I will be able to hit a drop below the cut line tomorrow......."

Lewys Hurst
