LA Titles for Grainger & Ryding
Porsche of Downtown LA presented the Epstein Becker & Green North
American Men & Woman’s Professional Squash Invitational over the
weekend of June 8-11, which was held at the prestigious Los Angeles
Athletic Club.
The event, co-sponsored by Feather Sports USA and JIVAGO Fragrances,
featured the top six-ranked PSA male and WISPA female professional
squash players living in each of the three countries of Canada,
Mexico and the United States. They included Graham Ryding and Runa
Reta of Canada, Eric Galvez and Samantha Teran of Mexico and two
former world #1 players, John White and Natalie Grainger of the
United States. Joining them in the competition were former world #7
Stefan Casteleyn and seven-time United States champion, Latasha
Khan.
Following the three days of fast-paced, highly athletic competition,
it was Ryding (scoring a five game upset) and Grainger (seeded one)
coming out ahead (with no game losses) in the standings…with White,
Casteleyn and Galvez for the men, and Teran, Khan and Reta for the
women, placing 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively.

Three Nations Assemble in LA
The top ranked players from Canada, Mexico and the USA assembled at
the Los Angeles Athletic Club last night in preparation for the
North American Invitational this weekend.
John White and Natalie Grainger from the USA, Eric Galvez and
Samantha Teran from Mexico, and Graham Ryding and Runa Reta from
Canada are joined by Stefan Casteleyn and Latasha Khan in the
star-studded invitational event. |

EVENT PREVIEW
Porsche
of Downtown L.A. will present the 2006 Epstein Becker & Green
North American Men & Women’s Professional Squash Championships,
hosted by The Los Angeles Athletic Club this coming June.
The event will feature the #1 male and female professional squash
players from each of the three countries of Canada, Mexico
and the United States.
Competition will be held at The LAAC’s international show-courts
over the weekend of June 9-11.
Confirmed to play are Canada’s #1 ranked player Graham Ryding
and #1 ranked female Runa Reta. For Mexico, the #1 ranked
male and female players include Eric Galvez and Samantha
Teran. The United States will be represented by two former PSA
and WISPA World #1 players, John White (Scotland) residing in
Philadelphia, and Natalie Grainger, (pictured) formally of
South Africa, now living in Washington, DC.
Rounding out each of the four-player draws, for the women will be
six-time and current USA National Champion, Latasha Khan of
Seattle, WA. For the men, there will be former World #7 Stefan
Casteleyn (Belgium) living in Santa Monica, CA.
The tournament, co-sponsored by Feather Sports USA and
JIVAGO Fragrances, Paris & Beverly Hills, will feature the
players in a round-robin format, with the men and women forming two
four-player draws, playing each other in twelve separate
professional matches over the course of the three-day weekend. Four
matches will be played on each of the three days.
With their athleticism, speed and grace, these eight superb
world-class athletes offer an unparalleled sporting spectacle in
this highly athletic, difficult and exciting sport of squash.
