16-Jan, Round One:
Seeds Scatter in Philly

Home hopes for success in the Women's Liberty Bell Open were boosted when US qualifier Amanda Sobhy upset sixth seed Elise Ng to reach the quarter-finals at Berwyn Squash & Fitness Club in Berwyn, USA.

The 15-year-old from New York despatched experienced Hong Kong 27-year-old Ng in straight games and will now face New Zealand's second seed Jaclyn Hawkes for a place in the last four.

Australian qualifier Heidi Mather also upset the form book by beating Dutch opponent Karen Kronemeyer, the No7 seed.

But England's Lauren Siddall was the highest seed to fall. The fifth seed from Yorkshire failed to exploit her first game advantage against Kylie Lindsay, going down to the New Zealander in four games.

15-Jan, Qualifying Finals:
US Juniors come through

It was a good day for the USA at Berwyn Squash & Fitness as two promising 15-year-olds came through qualifying to reach the main draw.

Amanda Sohby, beat South American champion Thaisa Serefini in five games, taking the decider 13/11 to set up a meeting with sixth seed Elise Ng, while Olivia Blatchford beat 20-year-old compatriot Kristen Lange and now faces second seed Jaclyn Hawkes.
