Cassie Calls it Quits

Linda Elriani, long-time friend and England team-mate of Cassie Jackman, sends this message on the yesterday's retirement news ...

Only one Cassie Jackman

Cassie is one of my best friends and it's so sad to see her extremely successful squash career come to such a sudden end, due to her re-occuring back troubles.

Cassie has been the leading English player of my generation by far and most women aspire to be even half the player and professional she is. Her MBE earlier this year is a testament to that.

Cassie will be hugely missed by all the WISPA players, squash supporters and organisers alike and definitely not just for her great squash. She has been a fantastic ambassador, a supportive and patriotic team mate.

Also for me she's a true and loyal friend (who has a great love for animals and Norwich City Football Club!) and she has a quick wit that can have me bent over laughing ! I have some incredible memories from over the years that I'll treasure.

I'm sure all the WISPA players wish her the very best for her future away from competitive squash. Maybe some lucky youngsters will benefit from Cassie's knowledge and experience in the future.

One thing's for sure ...
there's only one Cassie Jackman.
