The Grand Final at Meersquash was the closing tournament of
the the Wilson R&S Squashcircuit 2004/2005, it is the only circuit
in the Netherlands offering prize money for the players.
The circuit consists of 9 tournaments spread over the Netherlands,
and this this season the strength of the entries was very strong.
Winners over the season were Joe Kneipp (2), Tommy Berden, Stephane
Galifi, Gavin Jones, Raj Nanda, Tony James and Marc Reus, and for
the women, Annelize Naude (3), Katline Cauwels, Karen Kronemeyer,
Ivy Pachoda and Joshna Chinappa.
So the latest women's winner of the season is India’s Joshna
Chinappa. She is in Europe, seeded to win the Women's World
Junior Championship at the end of this month in Belgium, and the
tournament offered her some welcome practice in her build-up to the
Worlds. In the final she beat former top junior Orla Noom
from the Netherlands, 9/3 9/5 6/9 9/6.
The men’s final was an encounter between two team mates from the
four times Dutch team champions Zwolle. World number 14 Joe
Kneipp from Australia and nine times Dutch Champion Lucas
Buit. Buit tried but was no match for the Amsterdam-based
Australian, as Joe won his second Wilson R&S title of the season 9/0
9/5 10/8.
The overall ranking titles were won by Marc Reus and
Dagmar Vermeulen, who had accumulated the most points at the
end of 9 tournaments.
