Wolverhampton reached the national league final in only their fourth season in the league,
with a repeat 3-2 win over Group B champions Oberthur Strings Tewkesbury in tonight's
semi-final second leg.
In the first pair of matches Shelley Kitchen cruised to victory to give Wolves the lead, whileon the showcourt Alister Walker recovered from 1-2 down to level the match. The host's veteran Mark Cairns put Wolves 2-1 up, avenging his defeat by Daryl Selby in the first leg, but Tewkesbury drew level thanks to Rodney Durbach's five game win over Alex Gough.
As in the first leg, Anthony Ricketts took to the court against Ong Beng Hee in the decider. When the Malaysian took the first it looked as though calculators might be needed, but Ricketts stepped up and dominated the final three games to take Wolverhampton into the final. Contributor: SC |
