North Shore Open 2007
21 -24 June, Auckland, NZ, $6.7k

Ruthless Kitchen wins
North Shore Open

Gary Denvir reports

A stunning victory for New Zealand's Shelley Kitchen in final of the WISPA Tour's North Shore Open in Auckland.

The world number 13 demolished second seeded fellow kiwi Louise Crome in the title decider, romping to a 9/2 9/2 9/1 victory inside 20 minutes.

The win will go some way towards making amends for Kitchen's surprise defeat to Australian Kasey Brown in the final of the Central Open a week ago.

23-Jun-07:
All-Kiwi final in Auckland

It's an all-kiwi final at the WISPA Tour's North Shore Open in Auckland.

Top seed Shelley Kitchen will take on fellow New Zealander Louise Crome in the title decider, after contrasting victories in the semifinals.

Kitchen cruised into the final, with a straight games victory over Japan's Chinatsu Matsui, while second seeded Crome edged out Australian third seed Lisa Camilleri in five.

Wickett causes upset in Auckland
Gary Denvir reports

New Zealand's Kerry Wickett has caused a big upset in the opening round of the WISPA World Tour's North Shore Open in Auckland.

The 18-year-old knocked Japanese sixth seed Sachiko Shinta out of the tournament, winning 9/4 4/9 9/5 9/4.

The victory comes less than a week after Wickett was named in the New Zealand team for August's Junior Women's World Championships in Hong Kong.

Teammate Joelle King is also through to the second round, after beating Trina Moore in four games, but the other two members of the team, Amanda Cranston and Lana Harrison have bowed out.

Cranston came up against the brick wall that is top seed Shelley Kitchen, going down in straight games, while Harrison pushed Japanese fourth seed Chinatsu Matsui to four.

The second round starts at 11am on Saturday(NZT).
