14-Nov, Finals:
KL titles for Galifi and Chinappa

There was disappointment for the home crowd in both men's and women's finals at the National Squash Centre in Kuala Lumpur as both local players went down in straight games.

A tremendous run from qualifying for Kamran Khan, but the youngster, no doubt suffering from a series of long matches, couldn't challenge Stephane Galifi as the fourth-seeded Frenchman cruised to his third title success in a row, his fourth since returning to action at the start of the year.

The women's final was similarly quick, with Low Wee Wern unable to seriously challenge Joshna Chinappa as the Indian second seed claimed her first WISPA title - the first ever by an Indian woman.

"Joshna has been extremely sharp and focussed, and was in devastating form in the final. She had made it to finals before but couldn’t close it out, which is something she has worked on. This win should help her significantly move up the rankings."

13-Nov, Semis:
Kamran's KL run continues

There will be home interest in both men's and women's finals at the National Squash Centre in Kuala Lumpur, but not from the expected sources.

After beating top seed Mike Corren in the quarters, Ivan Yuen couldn't repeat the feat as he went down in four games to France's Stephane Galifi. But qualifier Kamran Khan continued his amazing run, this time beating third-seeded Australian Zac Alexander 3/2 in another marathon match. Khan's shortest match so far, his 68-minute first round, is much longer than Galifi's shortest, and in total the youngster has spent almost twice as much time on court as the Frenchman.

Women's top seed Sharon Wee crashed out to India's Joshna Chinappa in four games, but Wee Wern Low made amends for the hosts when she beat second seed Donna Urquhart to ensure Malaysian interest in both finals.

12-Nov, Quarters:

Upsets aplenty in KL

There were some spectacular upsets in the quarter-finals of the latest NSC series event at the National Squash Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

Top seed Mike Corren was dumped out by home player Ivan Yuen, the seventh seed. Yuen now meets France's Stephane Galifi for a place in the final.

Another upset came when Malaysian qualifier Kamran Khan scored his third successive against-the-odds win, taking out fifth seed Steve Robinson. Khan faces another Australian in the semis, third-seeded Zac Alexander.

The women's event went more according to the form book, with local favourite Low Wee Wern joining the top three seeds in the semi-finals after beating fourth-seeded Kiwi Joelle King.
