Wee
goes one better
at
Wah Cantt ...Malaysia's Sharon
Wee went one better in the final of the Women's POF Wah Cantt Squash
Open when she beat compatriot Delia Arnold in straight games to make up
for the disappointment of finishing as runner-up in the inaugural WISPA
World Tour event last year at the Jahangir Khan Squash Centre in Wah
Cantt, Pakistan.
The Antwerp-based top seed maintained her straight games run through the
tournament when she dismissed Arnold, the No2 seed, 9-2, 9-3, 9-3.
The success marks the fifth WISPA World Tour title of 28-year-old Wee's
career. |

Quickfire Quarters at
Wah Cantt
It
was a quick quarter-finals session at the Jahangir Khan Squash
Centre in Wah Cantt, Pakistan, as the top three seeds were joined in the
semi-finals by Pakistan's Maria Toor Pakay in four quick matches.
Second
seed Delia Arnold won in 34 minutes, the longest of the day, and
meets Pakay, who followed up her marathon first round win with a
quickfire 19-minute win over qualifier Aliya Sarfraz.
It
was even quicker in the top half, with number one seed Sharon Wee,
last year's runner-up, easing through in 15 minutes, but even that was
outdone by England's Kirsty McPhee as the third seed took just 11
minutes to reach the semis!

battle with fourth seed Siti Munirah Jusoh to beat the Malaysian 5-9,
10-8, 6-9, 9-3, 9-0.
Meanwhile Malaysians Sharon Wee and Delia Arnold remain on course to meet
in the final after overcoming Pakistanis in the first round. Wee, the
favourite, beat Zoya Khalid 9-1, 9-1, 9-2, while second seed Arnold
despatched qualifier Mahwish Hanif 9-5, 9-2, 9-1.
31-Aug-06:
Carla can't make it
Defending champion Carla Khan was forced to pull out of the second ever
WISPA event in Pakistan, after suffering a back injury in the South
Asian Games.
Carla had been seeded two behind Malaysia's Sharon Wee, last year's
runner-up, who now becomes a strong favourite for the event.
