Details to follow ...

12-Jan, Quarters & Semis:
Salvia qualifies for final

Local favourite Oriol Salvia reached the final of the 10th Rocafort Open, beating two Frenchman along the way.

In the morning quarter-finals he faced Joan Lezaud, who had beaten the top seed in the first round, and emerged the winner in straight games. Then in the semi-finals it was fellow-qualifier Gregoire Marche, who last week was runner up in the British Junior Open U19 event. This time the Spaniard found himself 2/1 down, but recovered to win in five games as his opponent "ran out of legs".

His opponent in the final will be second seed Martin Knight. The Kiwi also faced a Frenchman in the quarters, beating Fabien Verseille in four games before despatching eighth seed Jason Barry in the semi-final.

2007 Event

11-Jan, Round One:
Good day for the
French in
Rocafort

All three Frenchmen made it through to the quarters in Rocafort, as Joan Lezaud took out top seed David Barnett, BJO runner-up Greg Marche continued to win in his first PSA event, and fellow-qualifier Fabien Versaille squeezed home 17/15 in the fifth.

A third qualifier made the quarters as local favourite Oriol Salvia ousted seventh seed Jonas Laursen.

"We are still in Barcelona, and as far as I'm concerned, I'm happy to be in the quarters, even if I didn't play the best game ever.

"Still, hopefully, far from being finished. Well, I hope so, anyway!"

"I won 3/0 against the top seed. First game was very tight, I was extremely tense, tie break 15-13.

"In the second, I made a bad start, 5/0 down, then 8/2, but I suddenly let go, and I win 11/9. And the third, 11/5.

"Happy to win once again in three .... So rare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ciao

Ten up for Rocafort

The Tenth Rocafort International, a $6k satellite event, is the first PSA event of the year in Europe, and marks the first PSA appearance of France's Gregoire Marche, fresh from his runners-up spot in the BJO ...

Hi Fram,

I just arrived in Barcelona for my first ever PSA. I hope to do well here and go on from the British momentum. In any case, I feel great!

Tomorrow, we have two qualifying rounds, and then I hope I'll get into the main draw. I'll try and keep you informed as the tournament unfolds...
