28-Oct-07:
Salazar
steps up
Brad Birnie Reports
The Saskatoon crowd was amazed at the display of quickness and
focus by the two finalists. Mexican teenager Arturo Salazar
displayed his incredible speed in retrieving almost everything
India's Siddarth Suchde had. Salazar kept pressure on Suchde with
his variety of shots. Suchde never backed down, but Salazar was too
much for him on this day.
Never significantly tested over the course of four matches in
Saskatoon, Salazar's best squash is yet to come.
27-Oct-07:
First-time finalists in Saskatoon
Brad Birnie Reports
It will be two first-time PSA finalists in Saskatoon as India's
Siddarth Suchde and Mexico's Arturo Salazar continued their runs of
upset wins through to the final.
A remarkable 31-minute first game took more out of Australian top
seed Ryan Cuskelly as Suchde, as he's done all week, dominated the T
as he went on to win in straight games.
Mexican teenager Salazar beat England's Robbie Temple, the fifth
seed, also in straight games.
Temple seemed to have little gas left after a 75-minute match the
previous night against Aqeel Rehman of Austria, and had no response
for Salazar, who has remained remarkably fresh all week.
So, a fantastic match-up of qualifier Suchde, winner of five
straight matches, against 19-yr. old sensation Salazar, both in
their first PSA final ...
