Amr Shabana becomes a Dad ... |
When,
during the British Open 2007, Amr was not at his best, his head all
over the place, I had a gentle go at him – yes, gentle! - as I
always do when he lets his grandmother play in his place…
He
looked at me with his big sad eyes, like a schoolboy caught out, and
said “Najla is pregnant, and we're so happy about it. Am I allowed
to be all over the place, Fram? Am I allowed????”
The Prince of Egypt asked us all not to tell anything, and it’s not
until Bermuda, months later, that he finally let the word go around.
He was going to have a little girl. Well, Nadjla, his beautiful and
strong wife, more French than I am, and I’m not joking, was about to
give him the most precious of gifts: paternity….
And it’s now done, for six days now, tells us Marwan Shorbagy, our
eyes and ears all over the world, brother of.
Amr Shabana is now a dad, but that’s not all. Egyptian President, M.
Mohamed Mubarak, has rewarded him for his services to Egyptian
squash…
In other words, our Prince of Egypt must be feeling pretty good at
the moment. Sleepless in Cairo, but pretty good indeed. I'll let
Marwan tell you the news….

Marwan El Shorbagy reports
The
Prince of Egypt celebrated his first child 6 days ago, her name is
Nada Amr Mostafa Shabana and her mum name is Najla. I
think a future squash champion is just born…
Last week he was granted also the nation's highest honours from
president Mohamed Mubarak after his victories in the World Open, and
he was selected as the best sportsman in Egypt for 2007 after
winning five tournaments in a row.

The world champion knew in the World Open in Bermuda that he would
have a girl, and he said that it was the winning key that pushed him
to win.
Amr Shabana is preparing now for the Hurghada International and
Kuwait Open next month and that will be the first tournament after
he became a new dad and it will be of course a good support to him.
We wish him all the best for Nada's new life and for the next
tournaments for Amr.

"Her name is the same name of her grandmother, I was delighted to
hear I was about to have a little girl.
"This birth is going to push me in my life, and especially in my
squash, I will so do my best. And I will let her play all the sports
she fancies, and she will choose!
"At the moment, I’m doing a program for six weeks in preparation for
Hurghada, I just finished two weeks, and still have four weeks to
go.
"I am also very happy because the President Mubarak rewarded me for
the second time in two years as the sportsman of Egypt. I’m very
grateful….”
