A professional advertising
photographer and keen squash player, based on the Wirral,
Stephen Dodd has produced a stunning set of images he collectively
calls "Squashology" ...

The project started three years ago when I volunteered to produce a
set of squash related photographic images to be displayed around the
walls of my "home" club, Heswall Squash Racquets Club.
The images featured a range of everyday squash items and one of the
club players in a variety of abstract ways, and the aim was to
convey some of the atmosphere, movement and drama of the game.
I'm particularly keen to move away from the "standard" on court
shots of players (besides, they generally move too quick for me to
take a decent shot!!) and bring some of my own ideas and personality
into the shots.

Hopefully, this produces something a little more unusual which can
be used in a more decorative way as part of an overall interior
design.
For the most recent set of images, I was most fortunate to enlist
two of the country's top players; Nick Taylor & James Willstrop,
both of whom put a tremendous amount of effort into the shoot and
THEN played an exhibition match!
All of the player images were shot in the studio which allowed a
high degree of photographic control.
Subsequently, the final images were composed in post production with
some of the more abstract images being printed up to 5ft wide onto
canvas making a very striking visual display.
