03-Jun-07:
End of the road for Preston & Lily
Chris Smith reports

Saturday brought round two of the Round Robins to determine the teams for the Pan American games. The day started off with Natalie Grainger and Jamie Crombie having a little Battle of the Sexes for the crowd, which Jamie won 2-1.

Then Damian Walker took Preston Quick down in four games - 11/9, 10/12, 11/5, 11/8. This sets up Sunday's showdown between Damian and Julian - the winner goes to Brazil. With the loss, Preston is eliminated from the selection process.

Michelle Quibell won a well fought 3-0 win over Lily Lorentzen. The loss eliminated Lily from contention for the team, while Michelle goes on to face Natalie Grainger.

Fighting for Pan-Am places in Boston

Chris Smith reports

With Jamie Crombie, Christopher Gordon and Latasha Khan pre-selected for the team for August's Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, other hopefuls are taking part in team trials this weekend at the Union Boat and Harvard clubs in Boston.

Friday's first round action at the UBC put Natalie Grainger up against Lily Lorentzen, and the world number five had too much for Lily as she won 9/0, 9/3, 9/3.

In the men's event Preston Quick and Julian Illingworth gave
the packed gallery a great show before Julian came out on top
11/7, 11/8, 11/9.
