Welsh Open 2007
31 May - 03 Jun, Cardiff, $3k
03-Jun, Final:
Le Roux takes
Welsh title

It was a second final in Wales in quick succession for Ben ford, but whereas in Colwyn Bay - and in the early rounds here - the Kent 31-year-old swept past a series of young opponents, today 20-year-old Shaun le Roux put the younger generation on the podium as he prevailed in four games to claim his first PSA title.

02-Jun, Quarters & Semis:
Ford makes another Welsh final

Second seed Ben Ford reached his second final on Welsh soil with two hard-fought wins at the St Mellons country club in Cardiff.

Ford, winner of the Le Sport Open in North Wales last month, came from two down to beat Jaymie Haycocks in the morning's quarter-finals before beating Ricky Davies in three games that took almost an hour.

His opponent in the final will be Shaun LeRoux, who also beat a Welshman in the semi-finals, but the third seed's three games against Peter Creed took less than half an hour.

Eddie ousts top seed in Wales

Unseeded English teenager Eddie Charlton pulled off a major upset in the first round of the Welsh Open when he defeated top-seeded Welshman Rob Sutherland on the opening day of action at St Mellons Country Club in Cardiff.

The 18-year-old from Mansfield beat favourite Sutherland in 43 minutes and will now face another local player Peter Creed for a place in the last four.

Unseeded Creed also claimed an unexpected berth in the quarter-finals when he outlasted fifth-seeded South African Jason Barry in 77 minutes.

Jethro Binns set up a surprise all-Welsh quarter-final when he upset Finland's sixth seed Matias Tuomi. The unseeded Abergavenny-born 22-year-old will take on fellow countryman Ricky Davies after the fourth seed from Newport beat English qualifier Richard Birks.
