#12: Dominique Lloyd-Walter

Who lit your squash spark? My Mum and Dad both played and introduced me to the game when I was seven years old. It’s a hard sport to get into without parental encouragement.
Always squash, or could you have competed in another sport? I used to swim as much as I played squash, but eventually chose squash over swimming as I wasn’t keen on having to wake up and swim lengths for an hour before school started.
What do you hate most about training? Definitely court sprints ….. no question!
The best thing about being an international player? The best thing is being able to see so much of the world and stay in great hotels and locations. It’s also great to know people in so many different countries.
Your favourite place to play events? Hong Kong, Qatar and New York are all favourites. If I had to choose one it would probably be Hong Kong as everything is so accessible over there and the people are always friendly.
Filling in time before matches? It varies depending on where you are but I try not to do anything that takes up much energy. Generally I read, watch dvds, eat, do my laundry. Nothing exciting!
Squash superstitions? Nothing outrageous, but I always like to spin for serve (something I have done since junior days)!
The worst thing about travelling? As I have a fear of flying, I have to say planes! Not ideal when I am on one every couple of weeks!
Your travelling entertainment provider? I like to read a good biography.

Pizza or pasta? I do like both, but I will say pasta as I do tend to have this more.
Tea or coffee? Coffee (at the moment). It changes quite frequently.
Fruit or chocolate? I love both but definitely have a higher fruit intake than chocolate for obvious reasons.
Just finished reading? Wayne Rooney’s biography.
The album you listen to most? I mainly listen to chart music.
How many texts sent each day? Too many at the moment. I need to cut back in the New Year!
Sporting event you would most like to go to? Any Grand Slam event apart from Wimbledon as I have already been there a few times.
Dinner with any sports person past or present? I read Paula Radcliffe’s biography and was very impressed so it would be great to meet her and have a chat.
Glass half full or half empty? I’m trying to keep it half full!
Your life so far, one thing you would change? I would change every match I have lost to a win!
Plans for the future? To remain within the world of sport and work in a sporting environment.
