Who lit your squash
spark? |
When
I was nine years old, my best friend had to move to another city
with his parents and because of that we went with our parents to a
restaurant at a squash club to have a last dinner. While our parents
were eating, my friend and me went on a squash court. I really liked
it and the coach of the club asked me if I want to come in again to
play with other girls. I did and so I started to play squash. |
|
Always squash, or
could you have competed in another sport? |
It's
always been squash really but I did take a few tennis lessons and I
really enjoyed it but then it stopped for some reason and I only
kept on playing squash. I still play tennis maybe once a week but
just for fun, it's a great sport. |
|
What do you hate
most about training? |
Actually not much. Sometimes I am tired and have to keep on pushing
even when I have had enough. But that is what helps improving. |
|
The best thing
about being an international player? |
I
have seen a lot of different countries and I met people from all
over the world. It is very interesting to get to know different
cultures and to see different ways of living.
It's also very nice that you can do whatever you want to do, you are
not stuck in an office. |
|
Your favourite
place to play events? |
I
like sunny and hot places, so that you can combine it with a little
holiday :-) . My favourite places so far are Australia and New
Zealand and Egypt. |
|
Filling in time
before matches? |
Depends in which country the tournament is held. A day before or
after my match I like to look around the city, to look at buildings
and different culture and also find some good shopping places and if
it's a sunny place I like to lie in the sun a bit.
I am also spending quite a bit of time on the internet to chat with
my friends or writing emails. I also hang out with other players and
we watch a movie or watch the other players playing. |
|
Squash
superstitions? |
None
really. |
|
The worst thing
about travelling? |
Living out of my case and just being away from home. Long flights
can be annoying as well and sometimes I have a few problems with the
jet-lag!! |
|
Your travelling
entertainment provider? |
Books
are the most important to me as I am reading a lot and the time goes
past really quick then. I also don't want to miss my iPod and
sometimes I bring my laptop so I can watch movies or do a bit of
work. |
|
Pizza or pasta? |
I
definitely prefer pizza with a lot of pineapple! |
|
Tea or coffee? |
Coffee by far. I don't like tea. |
|
Fruit or chocolate? |
Both!
I really need chocolate during the day but I also love fruits. I
know it's bad but I probably prefer chocolate a little more! |
|
Just finished
reading? |
A
thriller called 7 min late by Kate Pepper. |
|
The album you
listen to most? |
I
listen to lots of different songs so I could not pick one. |
|
How many texts sent
each day? |
Maybe
around 5 – 8 but it depends whether I have internet as then I send
less as I am chatting and writing Emails to everybody. |
|
Sporting event you
would most like to go to? |
Any
tennis event! |
|
Dinner with any
sports person past or present? |
I
don't really have a sports person I want to meet...... |
|
Glass half full or
half empty? |
Half
full. I am an optimist. |
|
Your life so far,
one thing you would change? |
I am
happy with my life so far so wouldn't change anything! |
|
Plans for the
future? |
I
want to become a personal fitness trainer or maybe go back to
graphic design which I started studying before I joined the German
army. |
