#15: Samantha Teran                               WISPA Profile

Who lit your squash spark? I started when I was 14 years old. My father used to play in the Mexican Squash National Team. He introduced me to the game while having to watch him play, and then he became my trainer and taught me everything about the game. I started playing and winning and since then squash has been my passion.
Always squash, or could you have competed in another sport? I like running and have ventured in triathlon, but I wouldn't do it professionally.
What do you hate most about training? It is difficult to say, because what I enjoy the most about my career is actually training, but if I had to pick something I’d say is stretching at the end of a hard session and the early morning work out especially on a cold morning.
The best thing about being an international player? The best thing about being an International player is being able to travel and know new places and cultures and meet lots of people.
Your favourite place to play events? Anywhere were the spectators enjoy the game. Anywhere where they set the crystal court.
Filling in time before matches? I am usually excited and a little nervous.
Squash superstitions? None.
The worst thing about travelling? To be on a plane for more than 12 hours and then have to take another connecting flight for another 10+ hours. To find out that my bags did not arrive on time…again!
Your travelling entertainment provider? My IPOD, a good book and I try to sleep as much as I possibly can.

Pizza or pasta? Pizza
Tea or coffee? Tea
Fruit or chocolate? Chocolate
The album you listen to most? Music in Spanish.
How many texts sent each day? When I am travelling I send a lot, when I am in Mexico just a few.
Sporting event you would most like to go to? The Olympic Games, to participate or even just to watch.
Dinner with any sports person past or present? Lance Armstrong.
Glass half full or half empty? Always glass half full, optimist person.
Your life so far, one thing you would change? I am a very happy person who likes to enjoy every day and I love the life I live, I would not change a thing. I am an ordinary person living an extraordinary life.
Plans for the future? I want to become the best squash player I can be and have my own squash club. I would like to have a big family
