22-Sep-08:
WSF to restructure

A press release from the WSF confirms what has been widely known or suspected in squash circles for a while now, that Chief Executive Christian Leighton has left his post as part of an organisational restructure.

WSF To Restructure

The World Squash Federation is set to undergo a restructure in a bid to align itself with fellow International Sports Federations.

WSF Chief Executive Christian Leighton will be a casualty of the new setup.

"The new organisation will enhance our ability to service the needs of our member nations - the WSF's most vital role," said WSF President Jahangir Khan.

"Christian has made a significant contribution since joining the Federation in January 2005, particularly in Squash's bid to join the Olympic programme," added Khan.  "We wish him well in his future pursuits."

The headquarters of the WSF, which boasts 141 member nations, will remain in Hastings in the UK. During the restructuring process, the administration of the Federation will be overseen by its Management Committee, led by Jahangir Khan and featuring Vice Presidents Heather Deayton (Hong Kong), Gerard DeCourcy (New Zealand) and Frank van Loon (Netherlands).
