20-Mar-05:
BOZZA'S BACK ...
Steve Pilley reports from NSW ...

Final:
Stewart Boswell bt Cameron Pilley
     9/11, 11/5, 6/11, 11/3, 11/7 (75m)

Stewart Boswell, the former world top ten player who has been out of action for almost two years with back problems, looks to be on the way back after claiming the title in the Yamba Open, a PSA challenger event.

As you can understand when you are the tournament director, you don’t get to see much of the final. However the packed grandstand witnessed an incredible display of class squash!

Cameron and Stewart are best of mates and have been training every day together since Cameron came back from TOC in New York. They are both based in Brisbane at the AIS.

I did see a few rallies and they were awesome. Look out for these two!

In the women's final Amelia Pittock turned in a dominant display to beat rising star Kasey Brown 9/4, 9/1, 9/4.

14-Mar-05:
YAMBA GEARS UP FOR 2005
Steve Pilley reports from NSW ...

The 2005 Yamba Open is registered as both PSA & WISPA Challenger events and it also happens to coincide with World Squash Day.

So we will have another big weekend of squash in the beautiful seaside town of Yamba, population of around 4,000 on the sunny north coast of New South Wales, Australia.

Even Vicky Botwright called in to downtown Yamba last year. She was told so much of the beauty of Yamba that she had to see for herself and even had a game of squash whilst here.

Byron Davis, Head Coach of The Australian Institute of Sport – Squash Unit (AIS) will be bringing eight athletes to our event. It is an event that the AIS have supported strongly over the years. In addition to Byron, Geoff Hunt and Rodney Martin have been strong supporters of this event. Previous winners include Tristan Nancarrow, Brett Martin, Anthony Ricketts, Dan Jenson and Cameron Pilley.

In the Women’s Open, Amelia Pittock, Melissa Martin, Kasey Brown and Robyn Cooper head the seedings. In the men’s, Cameron Pilley, Stewart Boswell, Aaron Frankcomb and Steven Finitsis top the seedings.
BOSWELL BACK
IN ACTION ...

Most people would have been surprised to see a particular name in the men, Stewart Boswell!

Stewart had his first tournament in over 18 months just two weeks ago in Brisbane. He cruised through the rounds before he met former world number 7, Craig Rowland in the final. He defeated Craig 11-3 11-1 11-3!

I believe he recovered OK after such a long time out of competition. Obviously he still has some way to go but next weekend will see the bar raised again!

There are many who doubted he could get back on the court, and there would be a lot that would have thrown the towel in a long time ago. It is a long haul and still relatively early stages but being one of the real nice guys of squash, we all wish him every success in his comeback.
