13-Nov-2008:
On the eve of the WSF making its presentation
to the IOC in Lausanne, Bob Hanscom has a dream ...
"YES WE CAN ..."

Barack Obama - 44th President of the United States of America ...

President Barack Obama started his day out pretty normally - a light breakfast followed by a scheduled league SQUASH match at the Capital Hill Squash Club in Washington, DC - with his Vice President Joe Biden.

Following a few morning meetings, as Chairman, he attended a Squash Committee luncheon-meeting to discuss sponsorship for a major combined PSA / WISPA event his club is planning to host on an all-glass portable court.

After a busy afternoon, President Obama went back to the squash club to pick up his two highly ranked junior player daughters Malia and Sasha from their practice session - while First Lady Michelle was finishing-up her squash match with another club member a few courts away.

During the ride back to the White House, there was much discussion as to whether or not the whole family could accompany the president to his IOC meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland tomorrow – and then to Copenhagen, Denmark in October 2009 - where plans for the first Olympic Games Squash Championships would be a major agenda item – hopefully the resulting decision being positive.

The girls also asked their dad if they’d be allowed to attend the 2016 Olympic Games Squash Championships in their hometown of Chicago, where the President, now finishing up his second four-year term, would be presenting the Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals to the winners of the 2016 Olympic Games Squash Championships - the first Olympic Squash medals ever presented!

Of course… the above is a complete fantasy, one we ALL wish were true.

I wondered – WHAT IF it were true?

Would the decision to have SQUASH included in the 2016 Olympic Games
EVER be in question?

I rather think not!

Just for a moment, let’s all dream –
“Yes We Can!”
