Top seeds claim Buler challenge cup
...

In a reversal of last year's final, Hong Kong's Annie Au got the better of second seeded defending champion Donna Urquhart to claim the women's title at the Hong Kong Squash Centre. The world number one had to come from 2/1 down to complete her victory in just under the hour mark, 11/9, 7/11, 9/11, 11/8, 11/7.

It was the top seed who took the men's title too, Australian Aaron Frankcomb needing over an hour to end the hopes of surprise Indian finalist Harinderpal Sandhu in straight games, 12/10, 11/6, 12/10.

16-Apr, Semis:
Top seeds reach Buler women's
final,
double disappointment for HK in men's ...

The women's Buler Challenge Cup final will be between top seeds Annie Au and Donna Urquhart after both completed straight-game wins in today's semi-finals.

In the men's event there was double disappointment for the home crowd as top seeded Australian Aaron Frankcomb beat Max Lee in just under an hour, and unseeded Indian Harinderpal Sandhu came from a game down to beat fourth seed Dick Lau.

15-Apr, Quarters:
Top seeds reach Buler semis

All but one of the expected players will contest the semi-finals of the Buler Cup at the Hong Kong Squash Centre after contrasting victories in the quarter-finals.

Top seed Annie Au was pushed hard by Joshna Chinappa before winning in straight games, and the local favourite now faces another Indian challenge in the form of Dipika Pallikal, who overcame Australian Melody Francis in four games.

The other women's semi-final will be an all-Australian affair after straight-game wins for Donna Urquhart and Lisa Camilleri, the second and third seeds.

There were some marathon matches in the men's draw, which saw second seed Jan Koukal fall to young Indian Harinderpal Sandhu, who came from 2/1 down to win in 76 minutes.

Top seed Aaron Frankcomb was similarly stretched, and he too came from 2/1 down to beat Hong Kong youngster Leo Au, taking 91 minutes.

Frankcomb and Sandhu both face Hong Kong opposition in the semi-finals after third and fourth seeds Max Lee and Dick Lau enjoyed somewhat easier victiories in their quarter-finals.

Au & Urquhart advance

04-Apr, Round One:
HK players advance in Buler Challenge

It was a good day for the hosts in the Buler Challenge Cup at Hong Kong Squash Centre, with players advancing in the men's and women's draws.

Top seed Annie Au beat qualifier Choi Uen-Shen in straight games and now faces India's Joshna Chinappa for a place in the semi-finals. India has another quarter-finalist, with Dipika Pallikal set to meet Australian Melody Francis, who is joined in the last eight by compatriots Lisa Camilleri and second seed Donna Urquhart.

Urquhart, fresh from reaching the semi-finals of the Cayman Open, meets Hong Kong's Carmen Lee, who recorded a fine four-game win over Korean Song Sun-Mi, ranked some 28 places above her.

In the men's event top seeds Aaron Frankcomb and Jan Koukal advanced in straight games, while Hong Kong's third and fourth seeds Max Lee and Dick Lau also progressed and both meet qualifiers in the quarter-finals. Frankcomb meets Leo Au, Annie's younger brother, who beat Austrian Aqeel Rehman in straight games.
