HKFC Meco Invitational 2012
12-17 Mar, Hong Kong, $25k
17-Mar, Final:
Happy Birthday Omar!

Egyptian top seed Omar Mosaad got a lovely birthday present in Hong Kong as he beat second seed Olli Tuominen 3/11, 11/5, 11/8, 11/4 to claim the title in the inaugural Meco Invitational at Hong Kong Football Club.

The win marks the 24-year-old world number 13's seventh PSA title, but the first for a year.

16-Mar, Semis:
Top seeds reach Meco final

Top seeds Omar Mosaad and Olli Tuominen will contest the final of the inaugural HKFC Meco Invitational at Hong Kong Football Club aster semi-final victories over Leo Au and Muhd Asyraf Azan.

15-Mar, Quarters:

Leo advances but Max falls
at the Football Club

Top seeds Omar Mosaad and Olli Tuominen will both face unseeded opposition in the semi-finals of the Meco invitational at Hong Kong Football Club, on a quarter-finals day that brought mixed results for the local players.

Mosaad, the top seed from Egypt, overcame young Frenchman Greg Marche in just under an hour, and now meets Hong Kong qualifier Leo Au, who followed up yesterday's upset win over Ong Beng Hee with a straight-game win over Amr Khalid Khalifa in a 'little v large' match if ever there was one.

But the HKFC crowd couldn't urge Hong Kong number one on to success as the fourth seed fell in five games and 75 minutes to Malaysia's Muhd Asyraf Azan. Lee led 2/1 but ultimately lost out 11/9 in a 25-minute fifth game.

Asyraf now takes on Finland's second seed Tuominen, who beat Siddarth Suchde 3/1 in 67 minutes.

14-Mar, Round One:
Leo ousts Ong in Hong Kong

Having come through qualifying at the Hong Kong Football Club, Leo Au provided the upset of the day in the first round of the inaugural HKFC Meko Open as he outlasted third seed Ong Beng Hee in a five-game thriller to reach the quarter-finals.

Twice behind, the Malaysian third seed forced a decider but it was the local youngster who prevailed 11/9 after 70 minutes. He now faces Egypt's Amr Khalid Khalifa for a place in the semi-finals.

Further home success came as fourth seed Max Lee beat compatriot Dick Lau to sety up a quarter-final with Muhd Asyraf Azan, the Malaysian who won the longest match of the day against qualifier Shaun Le Roux.

Top seeds Omar Mosaad and Olli Tuominen progressed in contrasting style, Mosaad needing 67 minutes to see off Egyptian Andrew Wagih in four games while Olli Tuominen only required just over half that time for his three-game win over Matthew Karwalski.

Mosaad meets young Frenchman Greg Marche while Tuominen meets India's Siddarth Suchde.
