Homebase Media Open 2010
08-11 Aug, Hong Kong, $8k
Heba grabs Homebase glory

Egyptian teenager Heba El Torky completed an outstanding run of results when she beat home favourite Rebecca Chiu in the final of the Homebase Media Open at the Hong Kong Sports Institute to capture her third WISPA title.

Heba, the world #66 from Alexandria, overcame three higher-seeded players en route to the title. She beat the experienced Japanese fourth seed Chinatsu Matsui in the quarter-finals, then overcame Hong Kong national champion Joey Chan, the second seed, in the semi-finals.

Chiu had herself beaten Heba's younger sister Nouran in the semi-finals, but was unable to do the El Torky double as Heba ran out a 3/1 winner in the final.

"This is my third WISPA title, and I am very very happy to win this one, especially because it was very tough beating Joey and Rebecca in their own country !:)

"I have changed my club now to Alexandria Sporting Club
and am really enjoying my time there ... I want to thank my parents for all the effort and support ... My sister and best partner in almost every thing ... all my coaches Ashraf Hanfy (head coach), Waleed Mosalamy (fitness coach), Reda Hanafy, Ahmed Ibrahim and Kiki ... of course all the squash partners who really help me improve (Ahmed Hany, Adel El Zarka, Mo Essam, Abou El Enien, Mehelmy, Hesham Ossama, Hussien Barakat, Khelo and my cousins) who I didn't have the chance to thank!"
