Hong Kong Nationals Squash Championships 2011

Annie and Max take HK titles

It was all change at Hong Kong squash centre as Annie Au and Max Lee overturned the results of the 2010 finals to claim their National titles.

Au reclaimed the crown after losing a 3-2 thriller to Joey Chan last year, but the final again went the distance with Au, the 22-year-old world number 10, beating her 9-month older rival 11/9 in the fifth.

Lee, the top ranked HK player at world number 61, ended the four-year reign of Dick Lau as he beat the defending champion  11/6, 11/7, 1/11, 11/7 in 48 minutes.

Hong Kong Squash is delighted to announce the HK$280,000 (US$36,000) cash sponsorship by Crocodile Garments Ltd for two major events of the calendar year, namely the “Crocodile Hong Kong Squash Championships 2011” and the “Crocodile Squash Challenge Cup 2011” which will be commenced this week and end of this year respectively.

The Hong Kong Squash Championships is the most prestigious annual local competition organized by Hong Kong Squash since its establishment 50 years ago, attracting all our top elite players, Annie Au Wing-chi and Max Lee Ho-yin, men’s and women’s defending champions Dick Lau Siu-wai and Joey Chan Ho-ling.

This year, the tournament is again title-sponsored by CROCODILE, held between 1 June and 18 June 2011 at the Hong Kong Squash Centre, including the masters, men's and women's main competitions.

The “Crocodile Squash Challenge Cup”, sanctioned by the WISPA and the PSA, is set to welcome and bring world-class men and women players from all corners of the world to Hong Kong for the 16-draw competition with the total prize money of HKD140,000 to be held towards the end of the year.
