Pakay qualifies for Liberty Bell final
Three of the top four seeds contested the semi-finals of the
Liberty Bell Open in Berwyn, USA, but the top seed was missing.
Pakistani
qualifier Maria Toor Pakay, who has been training in Toronto
under the wing of Canadian squash legend Jonathon Power, made it a
second successive upset when she beat top seed Misaki Kobayashi in
straight games, setting up a semi-final with third-seeded US junior
Olivia Blatchford, who came from two games down to beat South
African Adel Nunan.
And there was no stopping Maria, 21, in the semi-final either, as
she beat Blatchford in straight games to reach her third WSA final,
but the first outside her native country.
In the bottom half of the draw Canada's Miranda Ranieri and
young Egyptian Salma Hany, seeded two and four, both won
their quarter-finals in straight games, but it was reigning Canadian
National champion Ranieri who proved the stronger in the semis,
coming from a game down to reach her seventh WSA final.

IN, BUT OUT...
It all happened during that last day. First the top seed for those qualifications had to forfeit.
Then, two players that study at Penn Uni qualified for the main draw
but had to forfeit as they have to play and reprensent their Uni
today, allowing two Lucky Losers - Georgina and Katjia - to get into
the main draw.
FRENCH CORNER
Bon je perds 3/0 sur Maria. J'ai pas mal joué, juste un peu courte
sur mes longueurs et avec une joueuse comme elle ça ne pardonne pas.
Hier elle avait fait pas mal de fautes directes sur ces attaques,
aujourd'hui elle en a fait très peu.
Alors déçue c'est sur mais je vais continuer ma préparation pour les
France en espérant faire un bon résultat.

Ça fait un bout de temps que je ne t'avais pas écrit mais il n'y
avait pas de tournoi en Décembre dans ma partie du monde ;)
Cependant on ne perd pas les bonnes vieilles habitudes...
Premier WSA de l'année à Berwyn non loin de Philadelphie. Je joue
une qualifiée au premier tour, Maria Toor Pakay qui bat
Georgina Stoker lors d'un match très "chaud" avec une multitude
de let, jamais vu ça auparavant.
Qualifications pleines de rebondissements... Déjà pour commencer la
tête de série 1 des qualif a du déclarer forfait. Ensuite deux
joueuses - qui sont à l'université de Penn et qui sont membres de
l'équipe - ont gagné leur ticket pour le main draw mais ne pourront
pas jouer demain car elles ont une rencontre contre une autre
université (ce qui est beaucoup plus important qu'un WSA ici).
Ce qui a offert la possibilité à deux lucky looser de rentrer ds le
main draw : Georgina et Katjia.
Mon match est à 17:30 heure locale. Je te tiendrai au courant par la
suite.
