17-Oct-2010:
Pearson moves to new role
It's hardly a secret that English National Coach David Pearson was on the move, having been absent from England's several latest outings, but now England Squash make the confirmation ...

David Pearson to move into new role

After 14 years, David Pearson is to leave his position as ESR National Coach, to take up a new consultancy coaching role within the organisation.

During his tenure as National Coach, England has enjoyed an unprecedented period of success, winning multiple European and World events, including 3 Men’s World Team Championships, 2 Women’s World Team Championships, 1 World Champion, 15 Men’s European Team Championships and 14 Women’s European Team Championships.

ESR is constantly reviewing the best way to ensure England remains a leading squash nation; to use all its resources to best effect in supporting our players to be the best in the world. To that end, we can’t afford to lose David’s unique skills as a personal coach to some of our best players.

So this is an opportunity for David to retain that critical role, within our elite coaching team, alongside his other squash interests. We are very pleased that his knowledge, experience and expertise will still benefit a number of our world class players, including recent World #1 Nick Matthew and World #2 Jenny Duncalf.

"DP has made a very significant contribution to the success of the Performance Programme for over a decade. He has been a pivotal member of the Performace Team that has enjoyed considerable success on the world stage, including World Men’s and Women’s Team Championships, a World Champion and four world number 1s.

"We are very pleased that he will be remaining with ESR to assist a number of our world class players."

Keir Worth, Head of Performance

"DP has played a central role in developing and maintaining a very successful Performance environment for over 14 years.

"I’m very pleased that we are retaining his services as an individual elite coach – at which he is genuinely world class."

Nick Rider, CEO ESR
