Sheikha Al Saad International 2010
11-15 Jun, Kuwait, $11k

15-Jun, Final:
[1] Annie Au (Hkg) bt [2] Dipika Pallikal (Ind)
           11/6, 11/5, 11/13, 11/3 (38m)

Annie takes Kuwait title

Hong Kong's Annie Au stormed to victory at the Qadsia Sporting Club in Hawally, Kuwait.

The 21-year-old top seed reached the final without dropping a game - winning each of her two previous matches in just 18 minutes and dropping only five points in her semi-final victory over Egypt's third seed Kanzy El-Dafrawy.

But second seed Dipika Pallikal provided sterner opposition. The 18-year-old world No40 from India dropped the first two games - but got the better of the experienced Au, ranked 17 in the world, in the third to win by a tie-break.

But left-hander Au regained the upper hand in the fourth to clinch her title triumph after 38 minutes.

The win marks Au's first WISPA title success this year - but the sixth of her career.

Hot enough in Kuwait
Celia Allamargot reports

From June 12th to June 15th, Kuwait City will host a WISPA $8000 event.

I've arrived today, so I've got enough time to get use to the weather, and I can tell you that you really need time for it. 42°C at 10pm!!!

Tomorrow, we're going to have 47°C. But hopefully the squash club won't be so hot. .... well, hope so ;)

There are many countries represented at this tournament and that's great! Seeded 1 will be Annie Au (Hong Kong), seeded 2 Dipika Pallikal(India), seeded 3 Kanzy El Dafrawy (Egypt) and seeded 4 Misaki Kobayashi (Japan).

Kuwait and Pakistan are also represented, and Europe with Linda Hruzikova (Slovakie) and France with Laura Pomportes and myself.

Qualifications start tomorrow at 7pm and the main draw on Saturday from 6pm.

We'll let you know ...
